Wacker Chemie AG announced a major strategic decision this week to establish two dedicated silicone production facilities in the Asian market, located in Tsukuba, Japan and Jincheon, South Korea. The capacity expansion plan, costing millions of euros, demonstrates Wacker Chemie's deep exploration and firm commitment to the potential of the Asian market.

The Tsukuba factory will focus on the automotive industry, especially in the field of electric vehicles, by introducing advanced production lines for organic silicon thermal interface materials (TIM). These high-performance materials, based on silicone elastomers, have achieved excellent thermal conductivity through precise formula adjustments. They not only provide heat management solutions for the automotive industry, but are also widely used in the electronics industry, becoming key materials for improving the heat dissipation efficiency of electronic devices. With the booming development of the Asian electric vehicle market, the Wacker Tsukuba factory will become an important base to meet the demand for high-end silicone in this field.
In Zhenchuan, South Korea, Wack has further strengthened its influence in the construction industry, as well as the automotive and electrical industries. Since 2010, the Zhenchuan factory has been committed to producing silicone sealants for the construction industry, gradually expanding to the production of specialized silicone, liquid silicone rubber, and silicone elastomers. Faced with the surge in demand for silicone sealants in the Asian market, the expansion of Wacker will significantly increase the production capacity of its Zhenchuan factory, ensuring its position as the leading silicone sealant production base in Asia.
