Dimethyl silicone oil is a kind of hydrophobic silicone material. It is used in medicine, daily chemical products, food, construction and other fields, and its derivatives have reached hundreds. The commonly used polysiloxanes mainly include: polydimethylsiloxane, cyclomethylsiloxane, amino siloxane, Polymethylphenyl siloxane, polyether polysiloxane copolymer. Cyclodimethylsiloxane is one of the commonly used polysiloxanes


1. Application in mechanical and electrical industry: dimethyl silicone oil is widely used in motors, electrical appliances and electronic instruments as an insulation medium that can withstand temperature, arc corona, corrosion, moisture and dust. At present, it is also used as an impregnant for transformers, capacitors and TV scanning transformers. It is used as liquid shockproof and damping material in various precision machinery, instruments and meters. The shock absorption performance of dimethyl silicone oil is less affected by temperature. It is mostly used in aircraft and automobile instruments under the conditions of strong mechanical vibration and large changes in ambient temperature. It is used for shockproof, damping and stabilizing instrument readings. It can also be used as a liquid spring for aircraft landing device.


2. As defoamer: due to the small surface tension of dimethyl silicone oil, it is insoluble in water, animal and vegetable oil and high boiling point mineral oil, with good chemical stability and non-toxic, it has been widely used as defoamer in petroleum, chemical industry, medical treatment, pharmaceutical, food processing, textile, printing and dyeing, papermaking and other industries. As long as 10x10-6 ~ 10x10-6 silicone oil is added, it has a good defoamer effect.


3. As release agent: due to the non stickiness between dimethylsilicone oil and rubber, plastic, metal, etc., it is also used as release agent for processing various rubber and plastic products and in precision casting. It is not only convenient for demoulding, but also makes the product surface clean and smooth with clear texture.

4. For insulation, dustproof and mould proof coating: a layer of dimethylsilicone oil is dipped on the surface of glass and ceramics, and after heat treatment at 250~300~c, a semi permanent waterproof, mould proof and insulating film can be formed. The insulating performance of the device can be improved by treating the insulating device; the lens and prism can be prevented from mildew by treating the optical instrument; The storage period of the medicine can be prolonged by treating the medicine bottle with the it, and the preparation will not be lost due to sticking to the wall; It can lubricate the film surface, reduce friction and prolong the film life.

5. As lubricant: dimethylsilicone oil is suitable for rubber, plastic bearings and gears. It can also be used as a lubricant for rolling friction between steel and other metals at high temperature. However, methyl silicone oil is not recommended as a lubricant for metals at room temperature because its lubricating performance is not particularly good at room temperature.

6. As an additive: dimethyl silicone oil can be used as an additive for many materials. For example, it can be used as a gloss enhancer for paint. Adding a small amount of silicone oil to the paint can prevent the paint from floating and wrinkling, and improve the brightness of the paint film. Adding a small amount of silicone oil to the ink can improve the printing quality. Adding a small amount of silicone oil to the polishing oil (such as automobile polishing oil) can increase the brightness, protect the paint film, and have excellent waterproof effect.
