International trade changes further amplify the influence of low-carbon capacity. Apart from the EU CBAM, more countries are formulating carbon-related import restrictions. Silica exporters without complete carbon data will gradually lose access to high-end overseas markets. Many Chinese silica exporters have adjusted market strategies. Instead of competing by exporting cheap general-grade silica, they focus on promoting low-carbon modified silica to Southeast Asia, the Middle East and South America. Meanwhile, overseas silica competitors are also pushing green product upgrades, intensifying international competition in the low-carbon silica track.
Industry inventory and trading activities also reflect this trend. Trading companies are inclined to cooperate with environmentally compliant manufacturers to avoid the risk of factory shutdown affecting supply. Many traders separate conventional silica and low-carbon silica into independent product lines to meet different customer demands. Downstream manufacturers no longer stock up blindly; besides product performance and price, they will examine suppliers’ environmental compliance status before signing long-term contracts.
Market analysts comment that the low-carbon transformation wave of the silica industry will last for a long time. In the short term, transformation investment will squeeze corporate profits, but enterprises that complete green upgrades in advance will seize first-mover advantages. In the medium and long term, carbon capability will become an important barrier to market competition.
